Clinical/Remedial Massage is a highly effective and targeted massage session focused entirely on releasing the causes of pain and discomfort. Remedial massage reaches below the superficial layers of muscle tissue – it aims to release chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deeper pressure on the contracted areas. The purpose is to “unstick” the muscle fibres and release deeply-held patterns of congestion.
Many chronic pain conditions are caused by restrictions and adhesions in soft tissue which can build up over time and are often due to repetitive movements, leading to pain. Such restrictions may be due to injury, through accidents or sports; scar tissue post surgery; poor posture; and repetitive strain and overuse, for example through prolonged keyboard and mouse work and increasingly from mobile phone and tablet use.
We use a combination of advanced massage techniques including myofascial release, trigger point therapy, deep tissue massage and soft tissue release to provide outcome-based treatments for chronic pain and injuries.
Massage for relaxation. Massage can also be used to aid relaxation and to relieve symptoms caused by stress and anxiety. Relaxation styles of massage offer gentle techniques where the intention is to reduce stress, promote overall wellness, relax muscles and diminish pain. Regular maintenance treatments can improve general wellbeing, maintain health, flexibility and mobility and improve circulation. |
